Day 4 - Happy Birthday Paul

Today was a good day, Emma woke up with a smile on her face this morning!

Work was good, I had a PBJ sandwhich for breakfast and some beef brisket for lunch (4 pieces). I also had a hot chocolate, for dinner we had tater tot hotdish (very small portion, as this is not my fav meal) to celebrate my brother's 30th birthday. I can't believe that Paul is already 30!!

Tomorrow is my Friday at work...whoohoo I am so happy!!

Day 3

I had a pretty good day today..considering that we had a holiday luncheon where I swear there was like 1,000,000 calories just staring me in the face saying eat me, eat me please.

Work was normal, for breakfast I had a bowl of Cookie Crisp Cereal, for lunch ok get this, I had 3 butternut squash ravioli, 2 pieces of beef brisket, some pretzel pieces with some asigo dip (bad lorry). I had a brownie and some cream puffs for dessert. Now I know that pretty bad, but here is what i could have had

Buffalo Wings
Spinich Dip
Broasted Chicken
Ribs
Rigatoni
Baked Spaghetti
Drunken Apples
Famous Dave's Beans
Corn Bread Muffins
Beer Bread
Cheese Cake

So see, I really did a pretty good job!

I also made it to the gym tonight and got in some nice cardio and worked the arms a bit. I have to admit i was in the gym last night, and I pretty much left after cardio because the people that were there last night were working my every nerve, and i was feeling like I was gonna punch one of them if I didnt walk out..

I wrapped Pauls birthday present tonight, he's gonna be the big 30 tomorow.. Happy Birthday little bro, and I actually made a christmas present tonight. Yes I said made, as in Homemade.

Day 2

So today was pretty darn good, I got more christmas stuff put up (stockings, nativity scene, and the rest of our ornaments). I got to the gym after work and did some good cardio, then did a little bit of legs but in all honesty the people there were just ticking me off. I mean come on, you people are hardly ever there and then you want to come in an act like you own the joint. Okay so on the food.....

I had oatmeal and cheese its for breakfast (whats up with the cheese its, i was starving at 10 thats what my problem was)
I had a ruben sandwhich with fries and diet coke (i only ate a quarter of my fries)
A couple glasses of water
A Chicken Breast and some basmati rice (2 1/2 servings of rice)
A glass of 1 percent milk
A couple cans of diet soda.

So over all not to horrible, but tomorrow is another story, we are having lunch catered in (famous daves, tuchi benuch, and tons o appetizers and treats). I am going to do my best to just have a little bit of stuff with more healthy choices.

Talk to you tomorrow

Day 1

So I have decided that I need something that is going to jump kick my butt in to not gaining any weight during these next few weeks. Christmas and New Years are always very hard. I am going to try and blog everyday at least about what I am eating, and anything else that pops in to my mind. Hopefully having to write this stuff down will make me realize what I am putting in to my mouth (this is my weakness).

I had a pretty good weekend but I was a little bummed. Barry was supposed to be going to Lynn's holiday party with me, but couldnt go so I ended up going alone. I think that I have decided to give it another try with him and see where things go. He got good news with his visitations of his daughter and that was really wonderful news.

My neighbor Tucker was/is my life saver. I made sure that I wrapped up all Emma's presents on Friday and I have her Sanata stuff hiding around. Well one thing that she really wanted super duper bad was sled. I have no more room to hide something that big so Tucker offered his place, and he even offered to try it out for her to make sure it worked well.

I got to go to Lunch on friday with Emma at her school. She was a spotlight student for the month of December, which is basically a reward for doing her reading logs and having them turned in on time. She has to read at least 20 books a month and she has reached that goal every month so far.

I did something really really stupid today. After watching the Vikings game and being happy that they won, I decided that since I had to clean, that I might was well clean my Fridge and Cupboards too. Well when I went to throw the Garbage in the dumpster I ended up throwing my keys in as well. You'd think on a Sunday afternoon that the garbage would be full...YOUR WRONG Nope not full, in fact it was so empty that I had to throw Emma in the Dump to retrieve my keys for me. She wasnt very happy about it and I wish I would have gotten a pic, but alas I got my keys.

Well enough of today, off to make grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Hasta

It's been a while

So its been a while since I have posted...like 3 months or something. Life has been crazy hectic, in a good way.

Emma is doing wonderfully in school and loves Dance. She had her winter recital and it was beautiful, I can't imagine her not being on a stage and shes only 5. Maybe I'll try to get her in some theater. She recently also lost both her front teeth, so she looks so darn cute right now.

Work is good, driving me crazy but good. In times like this, when I have a bad day at work, I say to my self that I have a job and I can pay my bills so life isnt all that bad.

My birthday was okay, I worked through it, Emma got H1N1 during it, so we didnt get to celebrate a ton, but we got to do it up the next week.

I have just about finished buying the christmas presents but I havent wrapped a single one. I really truly dislike wrapping presents. I wish there was an auto wrap button.

Tears and Fears

First and foremost Emma absolutely loved her first day at school.

I let her sleep in a little bit and when I woke her up she started jumpin up and down singing about school. For the next two hours she pretty much kept asking 'when are we going to school'. I worked from home yesterday and knowing how little I would be getting done so I worked monday evening and i was up at 4AM (hmmm whos the nervous one) and was working then.

We got to school and she automatically went right to her table and started doing the worksheet that was placed there. She was so happy to be there. I did okay till I walked out of the room. Thats when I started getting teary. I heard another child in the room across the hall screaming how he wanted his mommy, and I felt good that, that was not my child.

I was a nervous wreck waiting for her to get home, and kept watching the clock all day long. The time finally arrived for me to go to daycare and pick her up from the bus stop. Her bus was supposed to get there at 4:01pm at 4:20 the bus showed up but my child did not. After I got on the bus and talked with the driver who didnt offer a whole lot of help, i went back home and talked to the school After being on the phone for 35 mins they located my child. Her bus pass had gotten mixed up with another girls in class and so they got put on diff busses. I got my little baby at 4:55 and I was so happy.

We went to Big Louies to enjoy dinner and to give her the opportunity to tell all of us all about her day. Needless to say she had a great time.

The first day of the rest of my life...

Today was a day of days. Work was kind of hectic, I worked my butt off there. When I got through with that I picked Emma up and took her to meet her Kindergarten teacher and to see her classroom. It all seems so real now seeing her cubby and her spot at one of the tables where her name is. It makes me kind of weepy to think that 6 years ago when I was pregnant I was having a hard time picturing my self as a mom. I was so scared, i was positive that i was going to be a horrible mom. Why I don't think I'm a perfect Mom, I think that so far I have done a pretty good job. She has enlightened my life so much, and I cant even begin to imagine what my life would be like without her. They say when you send your child off to school its like the first day all over again. Well I offically have 1 week to get it together before I have to bring her to school next Tuesday.

On another note, our All Female Fantasy Football league had our live draft tonight. I have to say that I had a great time. we did it over the computer, I think that it would be awesome if could have all been in the same room, but logistically I know that can't happen. Anyway I hope I kick some Fantasy Ass!

Speaking of kicking ass, I did my day 3 of the 3o day shred. What I have decided to do, is to do the Jillian Michales DVD 1 day and then alternate hitting the gym the next. This way I keep it fresh and dont get to bored with what I'm doing.

.........no snappy title here

LOL. Okay so I am just not one to come up with snappy title lines.

It seems that the only time I have to update the blog is at work on Mondays after the weekend.

This weekend was no exception to the busy rule. Thursday afternoon, I got to meet up with a friend that I hadn't touched base with in a while and I had a great time. We had lunch and had fun. Thursday night, After I stood up Becky and Ben (which I am very sorry for, I totally spaced it out) Emma and I went and played Bingo at Big Louies! okay well I played Bingo, Emma played with her dolls! Friday we went to the State Fair with my Mom, Dad, Paul, Lindy and Baylen.. We had a great time and I was so impressed. My child (who complains after walking a block) did not complain once all day and we walked about 4 miles.

Saturday was spent mostly in the car. We took a family carvan trip to Ortonville and we burried my grandpas urn and hat next to my grandmother. It was sad but also gave me some closure so it was good. I do have to say there are better ways to spend the day then 8 hours in a car. My girlfriend Jessi and I had some chinese food and watched on of my fav movies the Holiday. We had a good time.

Okay so I promise to try to be better about updating a little more frequently.

tired

it has been one crazy week. I was on call for work and it was a pretty crazy time, so much so that by Wednesday I was a royal beeoch. I yelled at a guy at the Y, because he walked away with out wiping down his machine.. I decided that I needed a mental health day after that. I took Thursday off, and it was wonderful, I worked out and laid on the couch and watched movies. Friday, I was off with Emma and we went school shopping. It was quite an ordeal for her, I made her try on about 25 pairs of jeans, and let me just say she throughly hates shopping. But 4 hours later, she had some nice clothes. I am pretty much ready for her to start school, but I am kind of annoyed with the school. School starts in 2 weeks, and I still haven't even gotten the welcome letter this is the day of the open house, blah blah this is when you meet the teachers. Wouldn't you think they would know that were all neurotic about our babies starting school and i'm kind of a control freak and need to know everything and I feel very much in the dark.

I made Baylen a Elmo cake for his birthday yesterday and that was fun.. We had a family party for him and he seemed to have a blast!!!! We went out to play Bingo at Big Louies last night, and my brother won last night so that was cool.

Today, Lindy and I went shopping for my mom's birthday present, can I just say that there are a lot of birthday's in the month of August.

Well there's lots to do this week.

I am starting the 30 day shred in the mornings, goign to try to walk at lunch time, and get my strenth training work outs in at nights. I need to lose the last 20 - 30 pounds. It doesnt help that we are going to the state fair on Friday, but I think I am going to just limit myself to a couple of things that I really want, vs nibbling on a little of this and that.

Nice Weekend

So being on call has some perks I guess. I say I guess becuase being on call really sucks. When I'm on call I pretty much have to be within 5 mins of home. If the beloved pager goes off I have to call in..Usually its a matter of calling in and answering whatever questions they have, but there are the times that you actually have to log in and look at somethings. So this weekend, instead of going out, I took emma to the farmers market, we went bowling, and capped the day of by going to big louies for dinner and bingo. I did manage to get 5 loads of laundry in between all that too. Over all I would say its a pretty productive day.

Today wasnt to bad either.

All quiet on the dating front right now. Not really serious about anybody, had a couple of dates, but I guess I'm waiting for HIM to make the move!!!!

The next couple of weeks are going to be really busy, I have work and all and I still have to take Emma shopping to finish getting her school stuff, we have Baylen's 2 yr party, going to the fair, and going to make a trip to ortonville to bury my grandfather. Thats weird too, waiting weeks after someone dies to bury them. He was creamated though so I guess its not urgent to get em in the ground. I have a feeling that when we actually go down there and do it, is when I am going to lose it. I have kind of been waiting for the storm to come, but it hasnt.

Wonderful Days Off

Emma and I had the day off today, and it was awesome!!!

We hit the gym, and I got a great work out in, Emma loves it when we go there because they have kid stuff and she has a million things to do. We also hit the pool a couple of times, played go fish, watched a couple of cartoons.

This week at work should be pretty interesting. I am hoping to get in a few more great work outs, my girlfriend Jessi is coming over on wednesday night and were bbq-ing (that would be per Emma's request). Emma loves Jess, she was our old neighbor and she loves spending time with her. I might even go out with Derrick this week!

Camping

this was quite a nice weekend. Emma and I went camping, we left Friday evening and got back today. We spent a lot of time in the pool, we went in to the local town (They had their town carnival going on), and lounged around. I really enjoy camping sometimes. I really dont think its considered camping by most standards. My parents own a 30 ft trailer and its parked up at a campsite year round, it has a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, two couchs that pull out as beds, tv, air conditioning, etc....You wouldnt catch me on the ground in a tent though.

Emma and I are off for 1 more day tomorrow. My daycare mom had the long weekend so its nice to be able to just hang. I think were going to look at all her toys and start making some throw away piles.......She also wants to go swimming, so if it's nice out, I plan on lounging by the pool relaxing for a bit.

I can't believe that in less than a month my little girl will be starting a new chapter in her life, the chapter called school... Today on our way home she told me she couldnt wait to go. I am going to be a wreck when school roles around I just know it.

Summer Time

I have to say that it has been a pretty great week, all things considered. I miss my grandfather terribly, but it also feels so right to get back to normal living. I had felt like I pretty much abandoned my daughter over the past few months. Instead of doing fun summer things, I wanted to help out with grandpa. Well I decided that she's good and okay because she's happy she got to spend time with him, and I am making up for lost time. I know that I am spoiling her a bit, but hey she's my only child, and she's earned it.

I'm off work Fri and Mon, so tomorrow we are going to go to the coffee shop in the morning, then after my eye exam (i'm so excited to get new glasses) were going to hit the pool (if its nice out), off to dinner than movie in the park. Crystal Park and Rec puts on kids movies in the summer at a local park and its great! We have such a blast. Saturday were going to head up to the camper and spend a couple of days there.

I can't believe it, but Emma starts Kindergarten in 1 month. What happened to my little girl that was 2 weeks overdue, and loved falling asleep to the vacuum cleaner??? It makes me a little, okay a lot sad to think about it, but i've also reflected on what I've learned from her, and how much she has enriched my life.

oh, and good news on the allergy front. I dont have them! the bad news is that i have a horid sinus infection, and this thing called vasomotor rhinitis (which pretty much means that i have to continue to live on Allegra and Nose Spray)...Oh well, at least I know!!

Whew

I don't even know what to feel anymore it seems. The funeral was yesterday and it was a nice ceremony, I felt the pastor was kind of stiff, but I think others liked him. It was amazing to see all the people come out to support Grandpa and us. I was a little dissapointed in some people, because I felt some were taking advantage of the situation but that's between them and god. I feel a little strange because I havent shed any tears yet. One of my cousin's asked me about why I hadn't and I dont have a good answer. I think maybe because greiving is private for me and I dont need to cry around anyone. I am sad about what happened but more I'm happy. I am truly happy for the man that is no longer in pain, and is with his loved ones that have gone before him.

I am so ready to get back to living my life. Speaking of which, I am starting my regiment of exercising daily again ( i havent been in the gym regularly for the last 3 weeks), I am going to start eating very heathly and watch my calories. I would like to loose another 40 pounds to be more truly satisfied with myself.. I have had a real hard time losing weight this past year. I've been in the gym 5 days a week for the last 8 months and I havent been losing any weight. I think that I am going to ask my doctor to make sure that I dont have other issues or anything.

The Funeral

This has been yet another surreal week. I worked from home on Tuesday, so that I could be around in case mike and jim needed help with Grandpa. Well has it happened I spent the majority of the day tending to him. Grandpa was unresponsive to anything except pain for the majority of the day. I think that everyone knew that something wasnt right and that his time was getting near.

I broke things off with the guy I was seeing that day, and I spent the night with grandpa and at 11:48 grandpa paul quietly went to heaven to be with his loving wife Judy. It was a sad night, yet for me it was really special. I got to be with him, and I told him that he was safe and we were all happy with eveything he's done and that it was time for him to let go. I got to say my good bye, and my see you someday's. The family game over then so they could say their goodbye's as well.

We have the funeral today at1, and then afterwards we are having a nice get together at Big Louies, and then later on tonight I think a bunch of us are going up to Louies to play BINGO. I just really want to get through this day and start moving forward.

I really appreciate all of everyones prayers and support, it means the world to me.

Feeling a little over-whelmed

This has been one wild ride. This weekend was the Crystal Frolics, Emma had a wonderful time. She went on a about a million rides, ate corn dogs, watched Fireworks, and went the Parade. We ran around, and had a great time.

On the flip side, that was all around watching grandpa who is progressively getting worse, Paul and Lindy, Jim, and Mom and Dad and I took turns sitting with him because he was very agitated and restless. He would get up and pace back and forth for hours, he would just stand there, you could tell things weren't right but you couldnt quite tell what was. Hospice came in on Monday and they changed his meds up. He is more relaxed now, and sleeping better. He's still in pain but with the meds its helping.

My girlfriend Becky is going through a really hard time right now. Her little girl Maia just got over the H1N1 and now her twins are in Children's with RSV. I am sending all my thoughts and prayers her way, because she needs to know how much she is loved and supported.

I think that I am going to break it off with the guy that I am dating right now, he has a ton of drama, and has things that he needs to work out in his life and its a little to much for me right now.

Oh I guess this turned in to a blab fest but I feel better getting it all out.

The day off, but not really

So the last couple of days have been pretty rough. Grandpa is not doing very well. He's always needed someone here to watch over him, but in the last couple of days things have gotten a lot worse. He's pretty much stopped eating. Hes drank all of about a cup of water. Hes very agitated, and wants to walk around contstantly even though he says he wants to lay down. Paul and Jimmy stayed up all night long to take turns watching over him. He wants someone to be with him, and he needs those extra hands. Its to watch because, I've come to terms with the fact that he's dying and that he's really struggling right now. I dont want him to suffer any more, and I hope that he's not in a horrible amount of pain.

Emma has been a real trooper through all of this, last week when we were on vacation, she spent the majority of her time with her Uncle Jim and Grandpa because I was doing other family things. This week we have a couple of days off and instead of doing fun outside things, she's stuck at grandma's watching movies and playing by herself in the back yard because I am here sitting watch. I love my grandpa and I'd do anything for him. I am truly glad do to the watches because it gives me more time with him, and I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to help in this phase of his life where the protector and the provider needs the protection and provisions.

On a good note, Emma and I are going to go to the Crystal Frolics tonight. She wants to ride all the rides, and check on her Nana Lynn who Em says will be in the Beer tent. There should be fireworks tonight, unless the rain comes through and we get rained out, man will that bummm Emma out.

We are also going to head over to Stacy's tomorrow and going to hang with them for a little bit. Emma was a little nervous at first because she wants to Dunk Nana in the Dunk Tank, and wants to be at the Frolics agian.....I told her we'd get to see Finn and Stacy and she was cool with that!

Busy Weekend

Whew is all I can say.......So Friday Emma and I went to the Crystal Park and Rec's Movie in the Park. We watched "Monsters Inc." and had ice cream (curtosey of Cold Stone), it was great she got to play at the park for an hour before the movie and then watch the movie. Saturday we went to Chutes and Ladders which is a nice park on Hyland Park Reserve in West Bloomington. We went with Baylen and Lindy and had an awesome time. Emma didnt like the walk home very much but we made it. Yesterday I went to see Harry Potter for the second time, I took my god-son who like me loves the movies! I do have to say that I would not have even gotten in to the books though if not for Becky who bought me the first book, then borrowed me each other one so I could finish reading them.

Emma and I have been adding Maia and the girls in to our prayers at night since Maia's been sick, and we've been praying for my Cousin Sarah whos going through probably the most difficult part of her life right now. Coping with the death of a parent who was taken way to early, but is most definately an angel sitting up there watching over all of us now.

I'm having guy issues right now, the issue is that I dont know what I want to do with the situation I am in and it sucks. Oh well I guess I should I be getting back to work now, maybe I'll write some more on that piece later on tonight.

World's Greatest Mom.....(who me)

So the other night, I asked Emma on our way home what she wanted for dinner..She said mom, I want Chicken Sticks (fingers) and I want to eat outside. Well I said sure why not, we can have some grapes too.....She started hopping around and told me that I was the greatest mom. I know that I had a huge smile on my face. I love hearing stuff like that from her, because there are just as many times when she's saying MOM thats not fair, or I always have to do that (in her poor me voice).....

Well....so it seems that everyone else I know has a Blog and uses it to keep everyone (thats interested) up to date on whats going on with they're families and life. I suppose it's time that I join the group.

There seems to be a lot going on this summer. Lets see I am going to try to lay this all out...So even if no one else wants to read this, I have a nice recap of whats been going on.

okay so first..keep in mind that i know i am missing some things...Grandpa : As everyone knows, grandpa's bladder cancer is back and he also has a high probability of the cancer moving to his spleen and one of his kidneys. He was kind of running downhill, we have Hospice coming to the house a few times a week to check on him, he needs constant supervision because he has very little satima and muscle control. My uncle comes over for some of the time during the day, and my Jim has been staying home durning the day to make sure someones there too. He has been doing much better the last couple of weeks, he loves his wheelchair, and actually went out and got a pedicure and a manicure last night.

Jim : Jimmy has come home from Iraq after being there for 15 months (yuck, i think not), and is now also home from Hawaii. He is back in MN and living with my parents. He has been a total godsend being able to watch out for grandpa when my mom and dad arent home. Hes trying to find a job right now which can be pretty darn tough seeing as how hes always home. But he totally saved me this past week. I had to go to Illinois for a Funeral and I was able to leave Emma with him for those 3 days.

Emma : What to say about Emma........Well shes the love of my life. I honestly dont know what I would have done with out her. I love to open her door and just watch her at night while she sleeps (she makes the cutest little faces while she's sleeping). She got her ears pierced again this summer. She has taken swimming lessons and loved them, she would live in the swimming pool if I let her. It helps that we have a swimming pool in our complex because its nice to be able to just head there instead of packing up to go swimming. She is so excited for school, and can't wait to go. I on the other hand wish that she wasnt quite so ready. I can't believe that I have a child that is going to be starting school this fall. Where did all the time go?

Okay so I think that this is a good start, and check back as I hope to just jot my random thoughts and expressions here often.
